The media multi-tool in ACTION
MONUMENTAL TATTOO ACADEMY
BRANDING
Aaron (CVO of Monumental Ink) wanted to keep the logo design for his new project (Monumental Tattoo Academy) within the parameters of the existing brand.
After a good creative discussion we agreed that the overall fonts would stay the same but a colour change was needed to differentiate from the two services.
We finally settled on the colour you see on the right hand side. The colour is significant, vibrant and unlike anything Monumental have used before.
This colour scheme will go on to be used to guide the overall feel of the new website and social media pages, as well as new clothing, notepads and pens.
WEBSITE
Much like the branding, Aaron wanted the new website to stay within the brand feel of the already established tattoo studios website.
This mock-up I produced takes the key elements of the existing website and injects the new look, replacing the logos to the new green versions and giving the overall site a darker feel, to contrast the bright white of the tattoo studios sight.
Lastly the navigation headers were updated to include the new pages that will be unique to the tattoo academy.
Social media
The new Instagram social media page for the tattoo academy would also stick with the same patterns as the tattoo studios pages.
The green round logo has been used as the profile image. The posts that you can see have been strategically uploaded, over time as more posts go live, these 3 posts will be pinned to the top of the page.
This means that every time you visit the Instagram page those 3 posts will be the first thing you see, this is where you will find the most information regarding the tattoo academy within the captions of these posts, it also gives you a visual representation of what to expect.
photography
As Aaron understands, photography is hugely important when promoting new products or services. He wanted to make sure the photography gave a clear yet inviting message to all potential students to the tattoo academy.
The first opportunity for some new photography came was from the first tattoo seminar that was held (two images on top row) these images will be used for both the website and social media in their respective formats.
Aaron then wanted to stage a photoshoot for an upcoming event in which students could come and actually tattoo on fake skin (two images on bottom row). Again these images will be used on all platforms and will also feature on a poster design.
VIDEOGRAPHY
Videography is a key tool for Aaron and the whole of Monumental, he understand the benefit it has to his business and in reaching a wider audience.
When creating the videos you see on the right, there was a clear message that had to be delivered but also a look into what to expect, all within a fixed time limit.
The best way to do this was for Aaron to do what’s called a ‘talking head’ video, were he would deliver the message directly to the followers, intercutting between footage taken from the first tattoo seminar.
I then created website version (standard 16:9) and then a vertical social media version (you can see the differences in the video thumbnails) that way the videos can be used on all different platforms to reach as wide an audience as possible.
